Ronnie's Orig inal JUMBO Seeds began 1993 as a
concept and a dream for Ron Giesbrecht, owner and president of
Superior Harvest Foods Inc. Having been raised on a farm in
southern Manitoba where sunflower seeds was always the primary
special crop that was grown, it’s no wonder that Giesbrecht had
the dream to see the product he raised on the shelves of grocery
stores. With his background and product knowledge, he was
confident a better quality and size of seed would stand a good
chance in the marketplace of today. An entire marketing plan was
developed around the JUMBO concept including the slogan "
More Snack’n, Less Crack’n". The business has grown into
an exciting venture that has left Giesbrecht full time in business
with eight employees roasting and packaging nearly a million
pounds of sunflower seeds a year. The seasonality of the business
has also challenged Ronnie's to diversify into other product lines
such as: sunflower kernel, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, soy nuts, and
pistachios.
